Every tablecloth tells a story...

A little wine here, a sauce splash there... these are the marks of meals shared and memories made. While we’ve shared some simple tips to help lift spills, we hope you’ll see each stain as part of your table’s history, a reminder of the moments worth savouring.

General care instructions

Your Yousi tablecloth is made to be part of your stories for years to come. With a little care, it will grow softer and more beautiful with every gathering.

  • Machine wash cold with like colours (whites and lights).
  • Use a gentle detergent. Do not bleach or use whitening agents.
  • Line dry in shade to prevent fading and maintain fabric shape.
  • If tumble drying, use a low heat setting, however, line drying is preferred to extend fabric life.
  • Warm iron on reverse while slightly damp for best results.

Spot treatment for stains

Spills happen, and honestly, they often mark the best moments around a table. While a little evidence of good food and great company can be a beautiful thing, here’s how to care for your tablecloth so it stays ready for the next gathering.

1. Act quickly

Gently blot (never rub) with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to lift as much liquid as possible.

2. Cold water is your friend

If you can, run the stained area under cold water from the back of the fabric. This helps push the stain out, rather than further in.

3. A gentle touch

For food, wine, or oil marks, work in a little mild liquid detergent or diluted dish soap with your fingertips or a soft brush.

4. Soak if needed

For stubborn stains, soak the area in cold water with a teaspoon of gentle detergent for 15–30 minutes.

5. Rinse well

Make sure no detergent residue remains; it can leave its own marks over time.

6. Let it breathe

Air dry and avoid tumble drying until you’re sure the stain is gone (heat can set it permanently).

Extra Tips for Common Stories (aka Stains)

  • Red wine
Blot, sprinkle salt or bicarb soda to absorb, then rinse and follow the steps above.
  • Oil or grease
Blot, work in a little dish soap, then rinse in warm water before laundering.
  • Tomato-based sauces
Rinse immediately in cold water, pretreat with detergent, then wash promptly.

Remember: Some marks fade, some stay, and that’s okay. A tablecloth without a story is just fabric.
